I’m Danielle, a Registered Holistic Nutritionist & Digestive + HTMA Expert!
I grew up a competitive gymnast, always upside down and pushing my body to its limits and then some.
After I retired from competing, I spent 10 years coaching competitive girls and recognized a MAJOR gap in knowledge around women’s nutrition and fitness.
During that time, I was dealing with debilitating dysmenorrhea (periods from h*ll) that forced me to miss school - and life really, month after month. I saw multiple doctors, searching desperately for solutions but instead continued to be left with one option: hormonal birth control.
After every visit, I felt dismissed, discouraged and disappointed. My hormones were a wreck and I had a long list of side effects from the pill on top of already dreading a full week of every month.
I wanted to understand why I was having these symptoms
I wanted to address the root causes rather than settle for the band-aids I had been offered. But I was told again and again, “It’s probably endometriosis,” and recommended birth control after a 5 minute appointment.
Of all the doctors I saw, not a single one asked me about my nutrition, stress or lifestyle, and not a single one mentioned the long list of side effects that are common with hormonal birth control.
I refused to accept that this was my only option and became determined to seek answers that I couldn’t find in the conventional health care system.

I studied holistic nutrition. I read, researched and learned how to take care of my cyclical body.
I discovered that what I ate, how I slept, the amount of stress and what type of fitness I did greatly impacted my hormones, cycles and overall health.
Once I understood how my body really works and how to nourish it properly, everything changed!
My periods improved • I had energy to burn • Chronic gut & skin issues cleared up
It finally felt like I was addressing what was causing the problems, not just treating my symptoms.
Now I understand that although my symptoms were common, they were not normal and weren’t just an inevitable part of being female.
I understand the combination of genetics, environment, diet and lifestyle that led to dysfunction in my body. I understand how my daily habits impact my cycles and overall health and that I have the power to take control of it.
I have realized that most women, like me, were never taught how their bodies work or how to properly take care of them. As a teacher, I taught the middle school health curriculum and boy, does it leave out a lot of important information!
I wanted to share what I’ve learned with as many women as possible so… The Nourished Way was born!
I believe that our bodies speak to us in symptoms and that these symptoms never happen at random. I believe that women need strategies and tools specific to our physiology because we’re not simply tiny men.
I believe every woman deserves to feel confident in her skin and empowered in her health.
